Print Book Giveaways for International Readers | Narelle Atkins

By Narelle Atkins  @NarelleAtkins

Do you see a print book giveaway on a blog or social media and hesitate to get excited?

If you're an international reader who lives outside the USA, you'll know to read the fine print on the giveaway to check to see if you're eligible to enter.

At International Christian Fiction Writers (ICFW) we don't do a lot of giveaways, but when we do a giveaway here we try to make sure there's an option for international readers to at least win an ebook, if not a print book.

There is a reason why print book giveaways from US-based authors are often limited to US mailing addresses: postage costs. For authors who are sent print books from their publisher to give away, it's only around $3 US to mail the books within the US. It's significantly more expensive to mail that same book to an international mailing address.

The Book Depository has traditionally been our go-to place at ICFW to buy and send print books to winners of our giveaways. They offer competitive prices and free worldwide shipping.

A few of us at ICFW who write contemporary Christian romance also blog with Inspy Romance. At Inspy Romance we're celebrating our 4th birthday and offering 10 giveaway bundles - 4 print book bundles (US only) - 4 ebook bundles (international) - a Grand Prize (US only) - PLUS a print book bundle for an international reader to win.

Yes, Inspy Romance is offering a print book giveaway containing 6 books specifically for international readers. How often do you see a multi-book print giveaway for readers who live outside the US?

If you like reading contemporary Christian romance, stop by the Inspy Romance blog and enter the Birthday Bash giveaway.

Have you discovered many print book giveaways that are open to readers who live outside the US? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

This Offer Is Open To…

Posted by Valerie Comer

Ever get tired of reading the following disclaimer? “This offer is open to residents of the continental USA only.”

Yes, the publishing world revolves around the United States of America, and most of our books, both digital and paperback, are sold to American readers. But, as international authors, don’t we wish to reach out to readers in other countries? Don’t we wish we could include them in giveaways, too? Readers of International Christian Fiction Writers, don’t you want to be included?

Authors, if you’ve given away paperbacks and mailed them internationally, you already know what a hit that can take to your bank balance. I live in British Columbia, Canada, and once mailed a signed paperback to Ontario. The cheapest postage still came in at a higher cost than the retail price of the paperback! Ouch! I can’t afford to do that very often.

But it still bugs me when I don’t qualify for a giveaway because of where I live — even though I totally get it — and it still bugs me when I have to limit one of my own giveaways by geography.

So I’m delighted to announce that Inspy Romance, a website dedicated to Christian contemporary romance, is offering an international paperback giveaway this summer, along with a group of paperback bundles slated for USA delivery.

We ran this international giveaway in our February Birthday Bash, and found not many of our commenters admitted to living outside the USA. So… if you’re a reader of Christian contemporary romance (and aren’t one of the Inspy Romance blogging authors), please swing by Inspy Romance and comment as many times as you’d like between now and September 11, 2017. Please give your country of residence in your comment(s). And let your friends and neighbors know!

How are we able to offer an international paperback giveaway? By utilizing the Book Depository to send out the winner’s books. (In 2013, I posted about how Book Depository works.) However, if we can’t grow our international readership, we won’t be able to continue offering this particular giveaway.

What’s included in this bundle? Four paperbacks and four e-books.

Paperback books:
o The Soldier’s Secret Child by Lee Tobin McClain
o Muffins and Moonbeams by Elizabeth Maddrey
o An Informal Introduction by Heather Gray
o Sprouts of Love by Valerie Comer

E-books:
o His Father’s Son by Autumn Macarthur
o A Love Song for Kayla by Kimberly Rose Johnson
o Calming the Storm by Melanie D. Snitker
o Love’s Choice by Ginger Solomon

Enter early. Enter often. And help us spread the word!

Psst, American readers of ICFW: you’re welcome to come on by and enter, as well! We’re always happy to have new readers join the community at Inspy Romance.

Full details and a complete list of prizes can be found here.

Love Inspirational Romance?

Two years ago — February 2014 — Inspy Romance was born with over two dozen authors writing Christian contemporary romance. While a few of the authors ALSO write historical romance, or ALSO write romantic suspense, or ALSO write Amish, the central focus for the site is to create a community for authors and fans of romance in a contemporary setting with a spiritual foundation.

God has blessed the Inspy Romance community! While a few faces change from time to time, we have a strong core of authors. And right now, between February 15 and March 14, 2016, we are celebrating our 2nd birthday with SEVEN prize packss, each consisting of multiple books! Three of the packages contain five paperbacks each, along with an Inspy Romance mug, pen, and notebook. Which leaves four prize packs with multiple e-books! All the e-book packs are open internationally, so come on over, read a few (or a lot of!) blog posts. Every comment between Feb 15 and March 14 is an entry.

Here are the e-book prize packs.

You may recognize some familiar "faces" in those four prize packs! We have a great international contingent at Inspy Romance with Narelle Atkins, Autumn Macarthur, Marion Ueckermann, and me, along with newcomer Canadian author Carolyne Aarsen.

Why not swing by Inspy Romance before March 14? This is a great time to poke around, comment on some of the posts, and get your name into the draw for one of these terrific prizes. You may find some new favorite authors!

Valerie Comer's life on a small farm in western Canada provides the seed for stories of contemporary inspirational romance. Like many of her characters, Valerie and her family grow much of their own food and are active in the local food movement as well as their church. She only hopes her creations enjoy their happily ever afters as much as she does hers, shared with her husband, adult kids, and adorable granddaughters.

Berry on Top, the sixth and final novel in the Farm Fresh Romance series, released February 25 on Kindle, Kobo, Nook, and iBooks.
