A Very Merry Kiwi Christmas

As we all start winding down for the year and turn our minds to remembering the birth of Jesus, I've been thinking about the differences between Christmas here in New Zealand and those being celebrated by my friends in the Northern Hemisphere.

Instead of snow and earmuffs and mittens, most of our days look a bit like this...

We do have fire... but we're usually outside cooking over it. On Wednesday my husband will be manning the BBQ cooking steaks, sausages and prawns for Christmas lunch :)

We'll be playing in the water, rather than skating over it...

Mulled wine and hot cider is out, drinks with lots of ice are in...

Christmas pudding and custard make way for...

and...

But some things are still the same.
Decorating the Christmas tree is still a very serious business...

We still love carols about Rudolph and Santa and Jingle Bells...

And, in tribute to our American friends, we have a ham in our fridge that is the size of our toddler...

Wherever you may be this Christmas, whatever the weather, the hemisphere, the country and the traditions a very merry and blessed Christmas from the Isaac family in New Zealand to you :)
