Thoughts from a travel junkie

I confess. I love to travel. I love visiting new places, meeting interesting people from different cultures, and discovering new foods. And living overseas has given me a lot of opportunities to travel, from Brazil to Botswana, to Great Britain.

Recently, on our way back to the states for furlough, the airline allowed us an extended--no extra charge layover--in Europe which allowed us to travel with our kids and visit some longtime friends. We had a blast eating raw herring in Holland, visiting the Eiffel Tower and Louvre in Paris, hiking through a part of the French alps, and visiting Henry VIII's Hampton Court outside London. (I've pasted some of my favorite photos below.)

While traveling and reading never fail to spark my imagination, there is something else I have learned from traveling. As I spend this year's holiday season back in the States, I'm reminded of the great blessings of both freedom and opportunity I have. It's an important reminder, and something I want to teach my children, and for myself, to never take for granted.

If you're a regular visitor to our blog, you'll know that we are celebrating our one year anniversary with lots of giveaways this month. I'm joining in the celebration by giving away a copy of Blood Ransom, my latest suspense novel that is set in Africa. Leave a comment below with a way for me to contact you. I'll draw a name on November 17th!

Lastly, I want to thank those on our ICFW blog team who have stepped up to make this blog a fantastic place to visit and learn about international fiction as they share their hearts and passion for writing and reading around the world.

Be blessed today!

Lisa

  3. Thank you Lisa for spending your time in the Service of the Lord - spreading His word to those that do not yet know Him. Your 'choice of freedom to chose' shows others what can be done - if He wills it. ENJOY your time with family during Thanksgiving/Christmas.

  11. Thanks for that, Lisa.

Having spent most of our lives in Africa and now living in the First World, I am so grateful that my children have traveled a bit and experienced how 'the other half' live.
    Enjoy your time at 'home'.
(I would love to be in the book draw!)
