DEVOTION: It's In the Breaking by Ray Hawkins

It’s in the breaking Christ is near
The breaking of the heart,
Dreams shattered
Compassion needed.
In the breaking Christ is known!

It’s in the breaking Christ is known
The breaking of the bread,
The body given
Communion shared.
In the breaking Christ is known!

It’s in the breaking Christ is dear,
The breaking of the chains
That enslaved.
Freedom received.
In the breaking Christ is known!

It’s in the breaking Christ appears
The breaking of the past
Newness dawns,
Ministry begins.
In the breaking Christ is known!

It’s in the breaking Christ is found
The breaking of the will
Heart surrendered
Self befriended
In the breaking Christ is known!

  1. Thank you for this reminder, Ray. May it be true in the life of my daughter's dear friend who lost her husband this week at the age of 35. They have never shown any interest in spiritual things. May she (and other non-Christian friends) surrender their hearts in this sad time.

  2. LeAnne May your daughter's friend find in the breaking the grace of God which makes whole.
I'm sure each of us can be thankful to God in some way for the wonder of His power in coming to us in our broken-ness and touching our lives and making them beautiful.

Thanks for your comments and for Dale's too.

  5. Hi Judith and Marcia.
I've been away with family and otherwise caught up. I apologise for not replying. It is always a joy to know that words I've woven have been used by the Lord to bless others. Isn't that the privilege and wonder of being a christian writer. I'm sure you know that.
