It truly was a blessing to live among these countries, and I know what you mean about being richer because of it. We are just so blessed. It was hard, though, and I'm just as glad to come "home." It has been an amazing transition - with lots of surprises! :) Thanks so much for your comments, Lisa.Jennifer Rogers Spinolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15741501564233758824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4620199782689299940.post-7516607861879922202012-05-26T14:16:12.015-07:002012-05-26T14:16:12.015-07:00Dale - it sounds like it's meant to be! It just feels "right." :) I do miss the passion fruits, though!Jennifer Rogers Spinolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15741501564233758824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4620199782689299940.post-83270694401153133902012-05-26T14:14:49.544-07:002012-05-26T14:14:49.544-07:00Judith - thanks for writing! The students' notes must be incredibly precious... I think we don't ever really go back to being the same, do we? :)Jennifer Rogers Spinolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15741501564233758824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4620199782689299940.post-44307748501750539482012-05-26T07:09:09.280-07:002012-05-26T07:09:09.280-07:00Loved your post! For me, it is a blessing to live in different countries and to get to know the people of those countries as it makes my life--and my families--richer. Thanks for sharing and congrats on the new baby coming!Lisa Harrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11358581487206184033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4620199782689299940.post-13934631200329488432012-05-25T16:53:56.494-07:002012-05-25T16:53:56.494-07:00Funnily enough when we moved to the South Coast a ...Funnily enough when we moved to the South Coast a few years, even though we had never lived there before, that's exactly what it felt like 'coming home.' We have passionfruit and limes growing here, things that wouldn't grow in the colder country climate where we lived before.Dale Harcombehttp://www.daleharcombe.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4620199782689299940.post-69255613456416531782012-05-25T05:11:09.745-07:002012-05-25T05:11:09.745-07:00Good Morning, Jennifer,
Your article brought back...Good Morning, Jennifer,

Your article brought back more memories, some of which shocked me. I taught in China for 12 years, 1997-2009. I returned to the US in August of 09 and still miss it. When I eat out,Chinese food is at the top of my list; cook it sometimes too!
Before I left, I gave each class a notebook to fill with pictures and stories of their own for me. I taught more than 150 students every semester, fortunately some of them for more than one course, but still, I have incredible memories and am working on my China memoir...I write every day no matter where I am, so for China, I have over 6000 pages of notes which actually is making it difficult! I miss the special friends that I made, real Chinese food (still use chopsticks when cooking), and the students who took care of me when I broke my arm and injured my back. I have given a few lectures, and our local library is doing an art show in the fall of my "collection" of things from China.
Judith Coopy
coopyju@hotmail.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
